Thank you for visiting the FC Maelstrom Soccer website, our organization specializes in providing Soccer Technical Training for youth Soccer players ages 5 through 15 years of age. The central aim of FC Maelstrom Soccer is to develop individual player Technical Skills and exceptional Tactical awareness. We accomplish this through the Maelstrom Method, a "Progressive Soccer Training System", which is specifically designed to engage players at every level and age.
Over the past ten years the FC Maelstrom program has evolved into what we now believe to be one of the most complete youth development programs of Futbal(Soccer) Technical and Tactical skills. The FC Maelstrom syllabus covers every area of Futbal(Soccer) which includes the following core aspects:
At Maelstrom Soccer we do not focus on teaching Full Sided 11v11 Futbal(Soccer), although it is an excellent game in its own right, but instead we play progressive 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 and 8v8 Small Sided games to teach Basic through Advanced Technical and Tactical skills. When combining FC Maelstrom Technical training with Small Sided games players get between 500 and 1000 touches on the ball per practice; this allows our players to develop quick feet, close dribbling, passing, and finishing skills. At FC Maelstrom we have found nothing better than Small Sided Futbal(Soccer) to teach Tactical awareness and hone each players Technical skills. Children at FC Maelstrom spend roughly two-thirds of their time working in small Techical/Tactical skill development groups, also known as "pool training", and the remaining third playing varying Small Sided game formats working to apply the pool training concepts in fun scrimmage situations.
Regardless of a child's age the goal of FC Maelstrom is to develop fully the Technical skills of every child in our program. Therefore Technical Skills from basic to complex are broken down into easy learnable phases for children and then these moves are taught, and repeated many times, until the children become accomplished at performing these skills, first as individuals, and then gradually in scrimmages and later in games. Repetition of all skills from passing the ball through to some of the amazing Technical skills seen at our demonstrations is stressed at every training session.
At Maelstrom we believe that children spend too much time attempting to "win" competitive games without proper training. Instead, at ages 5-15 players need to be in a non-competitive "learning" environment where players, and their peers, grow at their own pace and only enter competitions when they are fully developed and have the confidence to play at any level.
At FC Maelstrom we are changing the way that Futbal(Soccer) is played at the highest level, by changing the way that we teach the game.
